Tales of the Neebor Lee

A number of the regular readers of this blog may have noticed my absence over the past year. I’m happy to report that I am still alive and well, and have been fortunate to have dodged the Covid-19 bullet so far. I have been busy, however, using this time to write a book about the Neebor Lee house. I have been fortunate over the past eight years to have gathered enough information on the history of this wonderful house to assemble it all into a single document.

The book, called The Tales of the Neebor Lee, incorporates many of the history-related posts previously presented in this blog and arranges them in chronological order to tell a unique story of this country’s history from the perspective of the former owners and residents of this wonderful home and property. All the stories have been improved and, at times, corrected through additional research. New information not previously included on this blog have also been included.

For those who have not read all of the posts in this blog, the history of the Neebor Lee dates back to the founding of the Pennsylvania colony and includes stories spanning several hundred years of America’s history. It begins with the property’s original settler, a wealthy Quaker slaveholder, and takes us through the American Revolutionary war as seen through the eyes of a patriot and the loyalists who resided on the property at various times. It also includes stories related to a wealthy industrialist family who brought a bit of the gilded age to the property in the 19th Century and a hero of two World Wars who fought to prevent the home’s destruction.

The book is available now as an Ebook from several online bookstores including Amazon, Apple and Barnes and Noble. It is also available as a Paperback from Amazon. Use the link below to access these online distributors.
